Farm Gate Latch

Find the Right Design for You

One of the main purposes of a gate is to keep things contained and other things out. This requires effective latches that can easily open and close. Just as there are different types of gates, there are different types of latches. Some work better depending on the type of farm gate you need.

Farm Gate Latch and Lock

Many farm gates can simply latch with a chain that wraps around a post to hold the gate shut. However, there are other latches designed specifically for gates holding livestock or that need to be opened and closed more efficiently.

  • Tubular gate latches. For overlapping gates, a set of two latches fit on the tube design. One latch rests on the vertical pipe and the other rests on the opposite gate’s vertical pipe to help keep your gate straight and secure.
  • Corral gate latches. Consists of a heavy-duty spring-loaded pin and threaded pin or plunger adjustment to fine tune the pin to the catching mechanism.
  • Livestock gate latches. Self-locking gates are a great choice for access to working areas. Specifically tailored to your needs, this design offers safety and comfort for those operating the latch.
  • Rancher latches. Designed to easily open or close gates while on horseback or on foot. Install to wood or gate tubing.

Automatic Farm Gate Openers

While many gates require manual operation, it’s possible to install remote-controlled gate openers. Similar to a garage door opener, this design works best if your gate serves as the entrance to your farm, or if you need to enter the area via tractor or ATV.
